Hi, sorry for the long wait, I when on a bit of a vacation and I just came back. Anyway now lets finally finish this blog. So, when I left off it was the last day of West Side Story. And from my experience with the theatre the last of any performance is when things go wrong. I can't really explain why that is but for some reason that is just been my luck. Anyway, because the student had been working so hard the last few performances the director decided that they deserved a day off of practicing. So, this time instead of running around trying to help I just was able to relax and rest until show time. But just as I said before many things go wrong on the final night and I was right. The main problem was the sound. For some reason this night was the night the actors had either forgot to turn on their microphone or that the microphones decided to stop working from time to time on stage. Which through off the songs and dances but unfortunately that wasn't the only problem. Another common factor was the breaking of the props. The list of broken props includes all the knives, a manikin stand, a nail-filer and a few other things. But I think the best of the night was the breaking of the rope that moves the curtain back and forward. So, it was a rough ending night but after all was said and done I realized all that we really done. In a short time frame we were able to complete a show. I was able to be apart of something bigger that me and I still to this day feel sad that it ended. But in all, I glad that the school and city give this experience to me and I hope next year I can do it again.
This leads me to the next day, yes even though I just finished a show I needed to work in the Puerto Rican parade. This year the parade was one of the biggest I've seen in years. The flouts was beauty, the weather was nice, and the people were amazing. Even though it is my job to pass out fliers, I had so much fun just seeing the Puerto Rican pride that came though that day. Also the fact that the weather was a comfortable 72-degrees didn't hurt. But in all it was fun.
So, that's it for now. Oh, if their are any people wondering since I been writing this blog for the last few days what have I been doing in the office. Well, because I been running around so much the week before, the last few day were just quiet read reports and write blogs days. So, I've not been out covering any stories but that looks like it stops today because tomorrow I may be out doing a story. So, until then bye.
